Palm Sunday

We commemorate Jesus' triumphal entry, on a donkey, into Jerusalem when the crowds spread palm branches at His feet (palm branches being considered symbols of victory and triumph at that time). This starts the last week of Lent and, traditionally, this is the first day of Holy Week, and is also called Passion Sunday.
